"Protective Instincts" is an original hand-painted acrylic painting on canvas of a mama bison and her baby, by contemporary wildlife Artist, L. Gilles.

Note from the Artist:

Spending time in nature photographing wildlife, and painting the wildlife I've had the privilege of spending time with, are two of my favorite passions. I wanted to create a new series of creatively styled modern/contemporary wildlife paintings, from recent photos I had taken. A mama bison and her baby bison in Custer State Park were the perfect subjects for this painting. Much of the landscape around them had burnt in a recent wildfire and many charred trees still remained. I have to imagine the mother's natural protective instincts to protect her baby burned as fiercely as the wildfire that consumed much of the land around them.

---- MATERIALS ----

● Stretched canvas
● Painted using heavy body acrylic paints
● Sealed with an archival gloss varnish to help ensure your painting is protected for years to come
● Painting is hung with a wire that is mounted on the back

The back of the canvas is hand signed, dated, and titled.

The background colors are black and gold. The colors on the bison / buffalo are white, red, orange, yellow, black, blue, silver, and gold.
